Experimental Evaluation of the Olds Elevator Concept
This independent paper by researchers at the University of Newcastle tests the Olds Elevator concept and various applications.
A specific focus of this study indicates that the OLDS elevator concept may be a very useful device when operating at an incline to feed filter cake type material into exhaust gas streams for drying.
This paper was authored by William McBride, University of Newcastle, School of Engineering, Newcastle, Australia and Miroslav Djukic, University of Newcastle, TUNRA Bulk Solids, Newcastle, Australia.

“Simulation modelling helps develop new systems” by Peter Wypych.
This feature article appeared in Engineers Australia magazine in August 2008.
Engineers Australia Aug08 Feature
Associate Professor Peter Wypych is the director of the Centre for Bulk Solids and Particulate Technologies at the University of Wollongong.
The article covers the new Olds Elevator test rig which has been designed and installed at the University of Wollongong to test the effectiveness of the Olds Elevator and to investigate particular design and operating issues (eg: bulkmaterials subjected to various rotational speeds, wall friction effects, in-feed scoop designs and screw flight designs).

Presentation to the Industry in USA & Australia (2006)
This ground-breaking paper titled “A Radical Approach to the Vertical Conveyance of Bulk Materials: the Olds Elevator”, was presented at Bulkex 2006 in Melbourne Australia, and to the Houston Material Handling Society, Houston, Texas in September 2006.
The paper reviews the development of the Olds Elevator since its beginnings in December 2002. It discusses the operating principle and examines the many benefits of this new elevation mechanism, in contrast with traditional methods of elevating bulk materials. It reviews cas studies of applications, showing the versatility and capability of the elevator.
